Search within a label

How it works

label: followed by the label name: label:friends. System labels such as important work too.

Examples

• label:friendsOpen in Gmail ↗

  Messages carrying the "friends" label.

• label:importantOpen in Gmail ↗

  Messages marked important.

What it does well

• Finds a filing system you built yourself, without redoing a search by content.

What it does badly

• Labels apply to individual messages, not to whole conversations: not every message in a conversation necessarily has the same label.Documented by Google · Gmail Help: search operators
